Admission Requirements

Master of Arts (M.A) in Migration Studies (Sandwich Programme)

The Centre for Migration Studies (CMS), University of Ghana, offers a Sandwich programme leading to the award of Master of Arts (M.A) in Migration Studies. The programme is completed over two long vacation periods, equivalent to one academic year or two semesters.

Entry Requirements: A good first degree, preferably Second Class Lower or better (or a GPA of at least 2.0) in a relevant field from the University of Ghana or any recognized/accredited university. Applicants with a Third Class may be considered based on work experience and other qualifications. University of Ghana graduates (1996 to date) should indicate their Student Identity Numbers on the application form.

Relevant Disciplines: Migration is interdisciplinary. Applicants from Law, Sociology, Geography, African Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Food & Nutrition, Population Studies, and related fields are encouraged to apply. Application Documents: Applicants must upload the following documents online: Bachelor’s Degree Certificate, Official Transcript, and Gazette or Marriage Certificate (if name has changed).

How to Apply: Ghanaian applicants must obtain University of Ghana e-vouchers (currently GHS 220.00) from participating banks before completing the online application form.

Master of Arts / Master of Philosophy / PhD in Migration Studies (Regular Programmes)

Applicants must hold a good first degree, at least Second Class Lower, in a relevant field from the University of Ghana or any recognized university. Migration being interdisciplinary, candidates from Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Geography, Law, Sociology, Population Studies, and related fields are encouraged to apply. The Centre welcomes both Ghanaian and international students, promoting diversity and inclusion.
